- eVisa access & providing a Share Code
eVisas
In order to access your eVisa you will need to create a UKVI account and then apply for your eVisa (this is free of charge) – you can do this here https://www.gov.uk/get-access-evisaLinks to an external site.
When creating your UKVI account:
1. We would recommend using your GWF number that will be found in your decision letter (this does add an additional step but it is explained further down this guidance).
2. You should select that you are creating it for yourself. You can also add a helper to your account who will be able to help view, edit and complete an application, but won’t be able to access View and Prove or update your details – this is up to you if you would like to add a helper, but please note, the helper will need to also confirm their contact details, so they will need to be available and able to access the account details provided.
Travelling to the UK using an eVisa
You should check your eVisa is correct before you travel. You should ensure that the passport you plan to use for travelling is linked to your eVisa.
Although most students will need to have an eVisa, if you have a Visitor Visa, you do not need an eVisa. Visitor visas are typically a sticker (or vignette) in your passport or a stamped entry (for some nationalities).
If you have updated your passport details on the UKVI account but have not received a confirmation email that it has been updated, you should carry both your new passport and the passport which is listed on the eVisa when travelling.
Providing your Share Code for Education
Once you have arrived in the UK we will ask you to provide a “Share Code” so we can access your eVisa. You provide this once you have created your UKVI account and have accessed your eVisa.
